FLEXIBLE AND VERSATILE

How to use Stein Art natural stone sheets

Preparation

Spread all the sheets on a flat surface to check the vein of the material. Sort them out to get an evenly distributed application on the wall or floor.

Adhering

For a full surface adhesion (preferably: 254 Platinum Laticrete white/grey), apply the adhesive to the wall on which it shall be glued to with a B3 seraded scraper. Place the sheet according to the required position, and slightly press it onto the glued surface evenly. For best results, start on ground level and work from the bottom edge upwards. For flooring, start from one side to the other. Use a sponge roller to make sure there are no pockets of air underneath the product. Use a sponge with water to wipe out any excess adhesive.
Use: Epoxy adhesive or other polymer-based adhesives.

Protection

To protect the stone sheets after application, apply the impregnator with a sponge roller. Let the material dry for 24 hours and then wipe off any excess moisture to prevent stains on the surface. After 24 hours, apply the 2K sealing and let it dry again for 24 hours. By the 7th day, the product is fully sealed and protected.
Material: Stein Art Impregnator/ 2K sealing and sponge roller.

Cutting

The stone sheets can be cut using scissors or a carpet knife. When cutting large amounts of the product, it is advisable to use diamond bladed tools.

Grouting

  1. To make a grouting joint, leave a space between the sheets (if necessary, tile spacers can be used).
  2. For a jointless design, apply the sheets with an overlapping technic.
  3. For shadow gaps, apply the stone sheet next to each other.

Corners

  1. The stone sheets can be bent around corners after heating (from 375°C); or
  2. To create corners the sheets should be first cut to the correct form. The sheets should be laid together edge to edge, attached together with packing tape over the complete seam to ensure tensile pressure when bending the edge. After applying the material to the required area, wait for the adhesive to dry. Once the adhesive has hardened, pull off the tape and lightly sand over the edge with fine sandpaper.
